Recharging Your Batteries

Isn’t it interesting that we’re so quick to recharge our phone batteries, and so slow to recharge ourselves? I don’t know about you all, but when my phone’s charge slips below 50%, I’m on it, yet I will often go weeks without taking a break for myself.

I took one yesterday, and I have the sunburn to prove it. I spent the first half hour of the drive to the Oregon coast feeling a little guilty because I’d actually (gasp!) let the dust collect on my laptop for a day. If I hadn’t gone, though, I would have missed watching the wedding party who camped out next to us on the sand. They were rehearsing for their ceremony, and it was the sweetest thing I’ve seen in a long time. Bonus – the men were wearing kilts!

We all need to play hooky once in a while. There’s a world out there just waiting for us to explore it. Don’t miss it! Whatever it is that brings you peace, I hope you’ll take some time to yourself to indulge in it, because you deserve it.

What do you do to recharge your batteries? Beach trip, or a long walk? A day of gardening, or a movie marathon? Or are you at your happiest when you’re curled up with a good book?
